Excerpt:

The World Leagues Ranking 2025 mid-year update is here, and it brings some fascinating changes to the Global League Ranking. With the Club World Cup and continental tournaments influencing the points, this edition reflects a more accurate picture of football’s global balance.

Although the European TOP 5 leagues remain intact, their dominance is under pressure. The Premier League maintains the lead in the World Leagues Ranking, bolstered by Chelsea’s Club World Cup title and victories in both the Europa League and Conference League. However, Ligue 1 is closing in on the Bundesliga, thanks to PSG’s Champions League win. It is also worth noting the growth of the Polish Ekstraklasa.

Meanwhile, South America sees a rise: Brasileirao leads the charge, with Argentina, Colombia, and Ecuador benefiting from improved CONMEBOL ratings. In Africa, Egyptian and South African leagues are on the rise, and in Asia, Saudi Arabia continues to lead, but Malaysia and Jordan are climbing fast.

Leagues Ranking

Every league in the the KA Global Football Leagues Rating (determined twice for the season)is assigned a number of points (the KA League Points).

The KA League Points decide on the place held by the league in the world football league ranking (and consequently about the class, represented by the number of stars).

The KA League Points are calculated according to the formula:

= (ICL Points x 3 +  Attraction & Impact Factor x 2 + Country Index x 1) / 6

The ICL Points in the formula are a combination of the Continent Index and the Continental Strength Factor.

Continent Index

Power Index Federation (PIF)  is related to strength of the continent (continental federation/confederation) from the perspective of clubs and leagues (not national teams).

Sum of indexes assigned to all continents is 100%.

The PIF combined with the Continental Strength Factor gives Inter-Continental League Points (ICL Points).

More about Continental Indexes one can find here.

Attraction & Impact Factor

Primary Attraction & Impact Factor procedure (otherwise referred to as Flow Impact Index – FI2)  recognizes level of attraction and attractiveness of the league from a global perspective.

One of the circumstances that is subject to particular attention is the number of players from a specific league participating in the FIFA World Cup and continental championships.

Percentage number, which appeared above is a result of the relation the FI2 assigned to the single league to the average value of FI2 assigned to the top 3 leagues ranked according FI2: English Premier League, Spanish La Liga and Serie A (993,422 pts).

Continental Strength Factor

Continental Strength Factor results from the KA Continental Performance Leagues Rankings, which are calculated on the basis of the results of clubs in the continental competitions by applying ELO Method.

The competitions which are taken into account are: Champions Leagues, Copa Libertadores and other, similar continental cups, including second tier competitions.

The Continental Strength Factor combined with the PIF gives Inter-Continental League Points (ICL Points).

Percentage number appeared above is a result of the relation the points from the Continental Competitions Leagues Ranking assigned to the league to the points assigned to the league hold top position currently in the KA Continental Competitions League Ranking, set for appropriate continent.

Country Index

Nations Football Reputability Index (NFRI) – is a supplementary indicator for the calculation of the world soccer / football league ranking.

The index shows the position of the country (nation) in the football world, from the perspective of its overall recognition, reputation, prestige and quality of players.

Percentage number appeared above is a result of the relation NFRI points assigned to the country of the league to the points assigned to the first country in the NFRI Rank.
