Rating Procedures

Football Club Global Rating is generated based on three key algorithms: league, continental and domestic. The first concerns the rate of the league (evaluated in the KA Football Leagues Global Rating), the second (IC3) covers the club’s results in continental club competitions, while the third (DC2) relates to the club’s position in the national league. The rate of the continent also influences the position of the club. You can find a more detailed description below or  read the-KA Logs tab or the specific ranking page .

Club Coefficient

The KA Club Coefficient decides, as a rule, about the quarterly position in the KA Global Football Club Rating.  This coefficient is calculated according to the formula:

= (IC3 x 3 + Global League Coefficient x 2 + Domestic Club Coefficient x 1) / 6

The value of the coefficient can be increased according to results on the FIFA Club World Cup.

The factor IC3 shown in the formula is a combination of the Continental Index and the Continental Club Coefficient

Continent Index

The Continental Index is a common term for Power Index of Federation (PIF) & the Virtual Performance Index of Federation (VIF). Both are related to strength of the continent (continental federation/confederation) from the perspective of clubs and leagues (not national teams).

Sum of PIFs assigned to all continents is 100%.

The PIF & VIF combined with Continental Club Coefficient give Inter-Continental Club Coefficient (IC3).

Global League Coefficient

Global League Coefficient (the KA League Coefficient) arises from the KA Global Football Leagues Rating determined twice for the season.

Continental Club Coefficient

Continental Club Coefficient results from the KA Continental Competitions Club Rankings, which are calculated on the basis of the ELO method.

The competitions which are taken into account are: Champions Leagues,  Copa Libertadores and other, similar continental cups, including second tier competitions.

The Continental Index (PIF) combined with Continental Club Coefficient gives Inter-Continental Club Coefficient (IC3).

Domestic Club Coefficient

The Domestic Club Coefficient (DC2) refers to the club’s current position in the league table (Milestone League Table). The Milestone League Table is understood as the final table or table set in the middle of the season. The team holding the first place in the table is assigned the value of the Maximum Coefficient, the last team – the Minimum Coefficient, and for the others the proportionally. The Maximum Coefficient and the Minimum Coefficient are respectively in the amount of: 1.5 and 0.5 (approximately).

In the final table, teams relegated to lower league are not included, and at the same time the teams that have been promoted are taken into account. In the case where the league competition model provides for play-off / knockout matches – the league table is set for the needs of the KA Rating according to appropriate rules.

Getting a high DC2 with a simultaneous high value of the KA League Coefficient allows clubs that are rare or never present in continental cups – get a decent position in the club rating. This distinguishes the KA Rating from most club rankings, based mainly on the results of continental games such as the Champions League
